Upon registering for the class, students will receive a study guide, and a workbook (if applicable). The study guide will direct you through the requirements,assignments, readings, and how to submit your work to the instructor. Some Internet applications may be used to do assignments.Though the content of the course is in hardcopy, students are welcome to submit their assignments to the Instructor by e-mail at AnneGoiran@collegecoursesonline.com

This course will help you learn to deal effectively with conflict, and confrontation. Using skills from cognitive behavior modification, and solution focused therapy, you will learn skills for dealing with anger, aggressiveness, verbal abuse, how to set boundaries, be assertive, negotiate ,regain empowerment and deal with the trauma of being confronted inappropriately.

Data from tests show that boys under perform girls in literacy. Using data from recent research and reports from teachers and students, this course will focus on creating a literacy curriculum that is boy-friendly and will help boys improve their literacy skills. Understanding how boys think, perform, and what motivates them will be an integral part of this course. Literacy strategies, writing techniques, and books that motivate boys will be practiced and reviewed.

Professional growth requires staying current with educational trends, books, journals and educational Internet sites. This class will give the professional time to read and share with others about books, journals, and Internet sites that enhance the profession of teaching and learning. Teachers will choose books, journals and Internet sites to enhance their professional growth. Teachers will create a teaching journal to record their reactions to their reading and application of professional materials in the classroom. Teachers will be encouraged to create a book club in their school to continue this process of professional renewal.
