Now that you have explored some of the basic issues regarding
self-care and renewal, it is time for you to decide what you would
like to learn more about. Until now, you have shared a common trail
with others as you've begun your journey. Now it is time to venture
off this common path and explore more about self-care and renewal.
Below, we list a set of eight activities which will guide you
temporarily away from this trail. You are invited to explore these
activities before going on.
Please follow your study
guide.
- Look
at a collection of print materials we have found which
we believe are good resources for learning more about self-care
and renewal. Find one that interests you, locate and read it. Come
back and click
here to share your opinions about the resource with the
instructor. (Note: If you know of other quality print material
which you'd like to read and review regarding self-care and
renewal, please e-mail us and let us know. We, too, are open to
learning and may want to add your resource to our recommended
list!)
- Search the World Wide Web for more information about
self-care and renewal. When you've completed the search, return to
this page and click
here to share what you have learned with the
instructor. If you need help getting started on a
search, click
here.
- Think of something nice that you can do for
yourself and go out and do it. Reflect on how you felt. When
you've thought about it for a while, return to this page and
click
here to share what you did and how you felt with the
instructor.
- Share, with a friend, your answers to the
reflection
questions which appear at the end of the story about
Sandy. Then return and click
here to share with the instructor.
- Share with your partner what your biggest
roadblocks are which keep you from taking care of yourself. Then
return and click
here to share with the instructor.
- Share your self-care habits with a friend.
Tell each other what self-renewing activities you plan to do this
week and then check in with each other. Support one another in
your mutual quest toward self-care. Then return and click
here to share with the instructor.
- Talk with other teachers at your school about
the meaning of and need for personal and/or professional renewal.
Find out how they take responsibility for renewing their personal
and professional lives. Also find out what are the biggest
challenges for them. When you've finished talking with them,
return to this page and click
here to share your reflections on this experience with
the instructor.
- Write a short story, essay, or poem
describing how you would see yourself as a healthy, self-caring
and self-renewing person. When you've completed your writing,
return to this page and click
here to share your work with the instructor.
