Spiritual Self-Care (Renewing and
Restoring) - Page 2 of 2
There are so many ways that we can build and strengthen
resilience through spiritual renewal. For instance:
- Honoring our wholeness through physical, mental, and
social/emotional self-care
- Reading inspirational and spiritual books and magazines;
watching inspirational movies, videos and television programs;
listening to inspirational radio programs
- Practicing meditation; seeking inner stillness and
peace
- Participating in religious worship; respecting all types of
religious worship
- Participating in study groups and taking classes focused on
spiritual growth
- Spending time in "nature" - recognizing and valuing the
spirit of all living beings
- Valuing what we share in common with other human/spiritual
beings
- Extending our sense of responsibility beyond ourselves and
our own world
- Caring for others with compassion and empathy
- Being of service to others, and doing so with genuineness
and generosity
- Practicing "random acts of kindness;" consistently
demonstrating kindness
Again, Sheila
Collins describes the "dance of spiritual self-caring" in
the following way:
- Movement in the spiritual dimension involves surrender into
a place of stillness, leading to a discovery of connection to
people and values important to becoming our true selves, resulting
in moving from being DRAINED to becoming ENERGIZED.
We'll leave it at that.
